The time it takes to blink

Jun 01, 2008 04:50

this has absolutely nothing to do with anything icly...while i would not put it past chelle to be evil this was just me being insanely bored and wanting to write.

I turned on the evening news
Saw an old man being interviewed
Turning a hundred and two today
Asked him what's the secret to life
He looked up from his old pipe
Laughed and said "All I can say is ."

Don't Blink
just like that you're six years old and you take a nap and you
Wake up and you're twenty-five and your high school sweetheart becomes your wife
Don't blink
just might miss your babies growin' like mine did
Turning into moms and dads; next thing you know your better half
of fifty years is there in bed
And you're praying God takes you instead
Trust me friend, a hundred years goes faster than you think
So don't Blink

Gods…why did her head feel like someone was pounding on it with a hammer? Setting up she glanced around furrowing her eyebrows at the whitewash on the world, had she been drugged to get to the kids? Fuck the kids if anything had happened to them…shit check on them quickly. Blood…oh lady so much blood everywhere…it was as if some made artist had used the walls as a painting, the sight of it nearly made her throw up. Where was Shai…damnit what had happened here? Bodies…find the bodies and they would lead to the truth and who did this.

I was glued to my tv when it looked like he looked at me and said
"Best start putting first things first."
Cause when your hour glass runs out of sand
You can't flip it over start again
Take every breath God gives you for what it's worth

Don't Blink
just like that you're six years old and you take a nap and you
Wake up and you're twenty-five and your high school sweetheart becomes your wife
Don't blink
just might miss your babies growin' like mine did
Turning into moms and dads next thing you know your better half
of fifty years is there in bed
And you're praying God takes you instead
Trust me friend, a hundred years goes faster than you think
So don't blink

Footsteps outside the door, they would help her to figure it out. Turning she sprinted for them skidding to a stop having to squint to make them more then blobs…fuck what had been in that drug. Franticly she called out to them and raced for the next room, the sound of feet behind reassured her that they had heard and were coming. The first to enter gagged at the sight and turned heading away to retch, the next was ready for the sight and set about the grim task of finding the bodies amidst the mess. Soon the two people she had been guarding were laid out side by side both dead from multiple injuries meant to inflict terror and pain.

So I've been tryin' ta slow it down
I've been tryin' to take it in
In this here today, gone tomorrow world we're livin' in

Don't Blink
just like that you're six years old and you take a nap and ya'
Wake up and you're twenty-five and your high school sweetheart becomes your wife
Don't Blink
just might miss your babies growin' like mine did
Turning into moms and dads; next thing you know your better half
of fifty years is there in bed
And you're praying God takes you instead
Trust me friend, a hundred years go faster than you think
So Don't Blink

Standing again she made her way back out of the room looking for fiction hoping that some way she could make this right even if it meant her friend taking her anger out on her. The call of someone from the outer room made her head that way hoping to maybe find her there. Instead she found someone leaning over something in the corner cursing fluently, who else had been in the house? The figure picked up the body and moved into the room they had just left to lay it with the others. Following she frowned that so far nobody had addressed her or her failure to protect them, she understood why when the body was lain down. Covered in blood and holes the body was barely recognizable but even it could not hide the two rings hung from her neck by a chain.

No, don't blink
No, don't blink
life goes faster than you think
so, no don't blink

With a gasp her eyes snapped back open looking around and feeling her chest to make sure she was indeed on one piece. These actions only earned her an odd look from the two she was guarding before they looked at each other wonderingly. A quick glance to the clock confused her for a moment, the amount of time she had spent in the thought had been near an hour but according to the clock only a few seconds had passed…long enough to blink.
