well now, let's see.
i'm 38 (i think right? 2011-1973...yeah 38) now. not seeing a notable diff thus far.
how did i spend my birthday? well the day started out with my not sleeping due to my shoulder and back giving me hell. then when i finally Did sleep, i didn't wake up until well into the afternoon. i originally wanted to go to olive garden but i saw their menu and decided against that. then i had been thinking about red lobster but given my back and shoulder i didn't want to fight with my body and get all gussied up when once i got there i'd be in too much pain to enjoy it.
so.
we ended up in ihop. wasn't too bad. our waitress had a rather vague idea of what waiting tables meant but the food was good so didn't fuss Too much. though i Did squawk a bit when she tried palming off a $3 drink onto chris when he specifically asked for milk and a glass of water. i don't normally make a big deal out of things but considering she wasn't listening to much we said (i was pleasantly surprised that my meal came out as i asked to be frank) because apparently the waiter over at the next table had a cute guy for a customer and well, two old people really aren't worth her time i guess. i politely asked her to take the soda pop Back and to return with the water and milk as ordered. i said please and thank you and no i didn't even growl. but i swear to you, getting a year older has Not mellowed me out enough to Not want to turn the little brat over my knee and tan her sorry ass. i realise it's the norm to roll your eyes at your elders these days. but when i'm paying for money, i am Not paying for rude behavior. i'm sure it didn't even sink in that we didn't tip her because she sucked as a waitress and that she was very lucky i was too achey to do seriously bodily harm to those deserving of it that day.
so Anyway... we went to a super, where i found a cool cake (finally) that passed muster. it was camo colored buttercreme frosting over chocolate. which i found immensely pleasing. anybody who knows me knows there are two styles of colors/patterns/etc that i am prone to wear... and those are camo and/or plaid and/or pink... and should it be pink camo, i'm over the moon.
well the cake was just plain old green camo, but it was still pretty cool. so that's my birthday cake. i would have liked to have gotten some number candles for it as well... i've decided to forego the whole number of the age thing and go with something simpler and much more chic i think... i wanted to just put candles of the numbers 1,9,7,3. no fiddling around with a ton of candles or candles that really don't mean anything.
because let's face it, after ten years old, that whole 'one candle for each year' thing will set off the fire alarm eventually. besides, i have a problem keeping track of the years themselves. they sort of mush together and slide by and then there's the whole math to it thing. to be honest, just having the candles for the year i was born is more than adequate i think. simplistic and unimaginative maybe but i'm not trying for anything über risky here. just want something to decorate the cake with, and the traditional thing is candles. but that crazy mess they tend to turn into isn't my thing. so. 1973 it is. but the only number candles they had were basically refugees from the 60s on sesame street... after the pot had been passed around.
but we found some nice black and white candles for it so that was nice anyway. maybe next year we'll be in a better place to find something simple and unugh for the cake decorations. i'm sure we will now that we have an idea what seems the best.
chris got me some computer games and a heather graham book i hadn't already owned/read along with two instant lottery tickets. one was a dud but the other was a winner for five dollars so that was pretty cool.
beaten the games i could play already and read the book. XD;;
but hey, that's just the way things go.
my brunch before bed and later going to ihop was a nice simple little meal... toasted prosciutto with havarti cheese, sun dried tomatoes and olive oil laced light miracle whip on english muffins with a cobb salad doctored up with pineapple and feta cheese with green goddess dressing on the side. ^_^
i played my games, checked in a few places, read my book and crashed until some time... yesterday i think it was. lol
i think next year i'm just going to go with simple right off the bat and go to the lone star steak house instead of all this 'well it's my birthday i Should go someplace fancy since i don't normally' bull. too much stress trying to get myself into the idea of getting fancy-ish cloths on and trying to horse my screwy joints into submitting to wearing a bra. it's my birthday... i should have a stress free, bull shit free day. or as much as humanly possible anyway. that should be my gift to me. [grin]
just thought i'd share since some folks like hearing about that sort of thing.
i appreciated all the well wishes on fb, by the way. and i got the card and the email, hun, thanks bunches. the card really cracked me up. loved it. ^_^ <3
i guess i better finish fiddling around on chris fb account and then head for bed. haven't been yet and well... that's a whole Nother entry of griping. [chuckle]
anyway, see y'all when i see ya. y'all take care and have yourselves a bullshit free rest of your week, ya hear?
love y'all lots.
