Wow, (pre)Thanksgiving with friends that feel so much more like family and an 11pm road trip to see the midnight showing of RENT. These are the things that make my life so good. Actually, scratch that. It's the people in these events that make my life so good. How I love my friends! Sitting around the living room telling our thanks through the alphabet. How do you think of just one thing for each letter? How do you express all the things that make you laugh or pull on your heart or make you want to love more each day? And I don't think I'm being over-sentimental; these are realities in my life and I'm so thankful for them. From support to miracles to trust to not taking things for granted - these are the things we share in thankfulness. (Raise your hand to that, guys. Check.)
I also love college-y adventures that involve late nights, driving while listening to good music, talking with beautiful people, and being entertained/challenged all at once. Talking about confidence and self-image brings out how truly beautiful we find each other. Then there's also the awesomeness of getting back at a time that is more morning than night anymore and crawling in bed for few hours sleep.
And so we do measure our lives in love. Because love is always present, whether in laughter, in quiet, in struggles and tears, in faith, in growth, in jokes, in trust, in humility, in the breaking of barriers, in working with your hands, in working with other people, in living this life side-by-side, in friendship - love is present.
How do you measure, measure a year
In daylight, sunsets, in midnights,
in cups of coffee, in inches, in miles
in laughter, in strife
In Five hundred twenty five thousand
six hundred minutes
How do you measure a year in the life
How about Love
