I feel like I'm in a waiting room of sorts. But it's not an uncomfortable waiting room or a cozy supposed to feel like home waiting room or an excitedly anxious waiting room. It just is what it is and it is right where I'm supposed to be at the moment. Since I pretty much can't express in words what's going in my heart and mind, I'll just do a little update of my life.
Mary came to visit me last weekend and it was so GOOD. Just plain good. In the best way possible. There was lots of time for just talking about things that we haven't gotten to talk about in a long time. Conversations to share our hearts and dreams and experiences that have shaped us lately. Around all this talking we also got to hang out with my extended family, go to the beach twice (sunset and daytime), be crafty, watch The DaVinci Code and Hotel Rwanda, praise God on Sunday morning at Cornerstone UMC, get me a tattoo, have a little Mexican dinner with Billy, and eat ice-cream on glamorous 5th Avenue in Naples.
To add to my list of wonderful people in my life, I went to Lakeland for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. While I was there I got to hang out with such fabulous girls as Carly, Audrey, and Drea. Plus I got to spend a little time with my mom at the FL UM Conference and meet some of her friends. Two nights in a row at the coffee house with live music is my kinda atmosphere. And we did a little silly decorating for Dave (Carly's "boss") in his office for his birthday. (It involved lots of pink, a Han Solo cut-out, and a mannequin named Perch.)
Then I was off to a great weekend at camp. For some reason I can tell really strongly that I'm not supposed to be serving there in any capacity this summer, but at the same time I feel such a strong connection and heart for the Team and the ministry. My friendships from that place are so beautiful. Emily and I hung out (and then Megan too) most of Saturday and I always love the time and conversations that we have together. I got to have a good ole talk with Adam Saturday night and we played piano in the chapel on Sunday afternoon. I also got to congratulate Heather on her pregnancy. Church was good and refreshing. Spending time alone with God at camp was also so incredible. And I at least got to say hi and give a hug to Ryan.
Now I'm in DeLand. Last night I hung out at the house John and Anabel are about to move into after they get married next week. (Wow. They're getting married next week.) I'm so excited that I feel completely comfortable hanging out with both of them and I enjoy both of their friendships so much. All of John's book are pretty much going to be my new library. He already made me take The Everlasting Man by G.K. Chesterton to read this summer.
Tomorrow I'll hopefully get to see Ashley and Amy and Travis in Orlando. Then I'll be home for a quick turn around to leave for Venezuela on Friday. I'll be sending mass emails from Venezuela, so I'll hope to keep you updated that way.
All these friendships show me how good God is and how, when we are united in Christ, that our hearts are always close even when our bodies are separated geographically or by busy schedules. He is good to me.
i love my friends
