College is funny. A lot of posers, also a lot of frugality, which is more pften than not a good thing. It's nice to meet people who are as judgemental as I, and who also resent the good-looking people on the floor and refuse to associate with them. Books are expensive, but what isn't? I become more like a silent comedian every day in this damn city. I feel like Harry Langdon walking in the square trying to get anyplace, turning around in the middle of the street and then turning back, and taking out my large laminated map unsubtley to see where the hell i'm at. Today I walked into a closet door thinking it was the way into the hall. Steamboat Bill Jr. was sold out the other night which left me wondering why i'm here at all. The food is good, but tricky. At the Film Forum there is a Nickelodeon in which you pop a quarter and crank the lever and it will play a scene from 'Saturday Afternoon' for you. Haven't gotten mugged yet. Knock wood.
