Baba Yaga
"Baba Yaga or Baba Roga (also known by various other names) is a haggish or witchlike character in Slavic and Germanic mythology. She flies around on a giant mortar, kidnaps (and presumably eats) small children, and lives in a hut that stands on chicken legs.
In most Slavic tales, she is portrayed as an antagonist; however, some characters in other mythological stories have been known to seek her out for her wisdom, and she has been known on rare occasions to offer guidance to lost souls.
According to Vladimir Propp, she often fulfills the function of donor; that is, her role is in supplying the hero (sometimes unwillingly) with something necessary to further his quest."

Representational Analysis:
The Baba Yaga represents everything within Luna that she doesn't want others to know. The Baba Yaga is widely believed to be both a hermit and a witch by outside observers, and the aspects of children eating and living in a hut with chicken legs are all metaphors for rumors. Luna's life has been ruled by rumors. When she entered elementary school, all of the children believed she was a witch. In time, Luna came to believe this herself. She saw herself as a witch and others treated her like one.
This only grew as her scholastic career went on. Rumors about Luna became so vicious and so cruel that her family started moving randomly. The chicken legs also represent this, because they are what make the Baba Yaga's house mobile.
The Baba Yaga's role as an unwilling participant in swapping information symbolizes Luna's obligated role to educate others as dictated by the religion her parents practice. But because she feels obligated to it, this also leads to some deeper doubts that maybe she doesn't truly believe in what her parents have told her. Maybe--just maybe--Luna's beliefs are entirely separate from her family.
Deep down, all Luna really wants is confidence in herself. Her intuition often gets in the way of her inner voice and she doesn't listen to herself when she really should. The amount of self-confidence within her is actually quite questionable.
Her weakness to physical is a play on her frailness. Pierce was chosen specifically due to the relevance in ancient rituals of piercing the heart.
The transition from Baba Yaga to Morgan le Fay symbolizes that Luna has come to understand and right the doubts she has within her and come to terms with the rumors surrounding her, becoming the powerful sorceress of Arthurian legend.

Morgan le Fay
"Morgan le Fay, alternatively known as Morgan le Faye, Morgane, Morgaine, Morgana and other names, is a powerful sorceress in the Arthurian legend. Early works featuring Morgan do not elaborate her character beyond her role as a fay or magician. She became much more prominent in the later cyclical prose works such as the Lancelot-Grail and the Post-Vulgate Cycle, in which she becomes an antagonist to King Arthur and Queen Guinevere. She is said to be the daughter of Arthur's mother, the Lady Igraine, and her first husband, Gorlois, Duke of Cornwall, so that Arthur (son of Igraine and Uther Pendragon) is her half-brother.
The early accounts of Geoffrey of Monmouth and Gerald of Wales refer to Morgan in conjunction with the Isle of Apples (later Avalon) to which the fatally wounded Arthur was carried. To the former, she was an enchantress, one of nine sisters; to the latter, she was the ruler and patroness of an area near Glastonbury and a close blood-relation of King Arthur. In the early romances of Chrétien de Troyes, also, she figures as a healer.
Though in later stories, she becomes an adversary of the Round Table when Guinevere discovers her adultery with one of her husband's knights, she eventually reconciles with her brother and even retains her original role, serving as one of the four enchantresses who carry him to Avalon after his final battle at Camlann. She has at least two elder sisters, Elaine and Morgause, the latter of whom is the mother of Gawain and the traitor Mordred. In Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur and elsewhere, she is married, unhappily, to King Urien of Gore and Ywain is her son.
