School

So after a bit of a hiatus from school I'm back again. Decided to go for an Associate of General Studies, as I can roll my certification classes into this degree, so that's rather win-win (mostly). Case in point, the only non-elective I have left is one (count 'em one!) math class (d'oh). Ok, so I enroll in one called Career Mathematics. I'm thinking it sounds like kind of a joke class, but have decided that I'll up my load after knocking out my most hated subject, thus allowing me to put the full force of my attention into this and never have to deal with evil math classes again.

Thus brings us to present day. I've made it to my second day of this class and am struck with a awe at the odd-beast that is called the curriculum. To start with, it's an independent study. My hatred of math generally hinders me when it comes to doing math by choice. There are many other things I'd rather do with my time (such as goose a wild bear or play peek-a-boo with the tigers at the zoo). Hence the reason why I did NOT sign up for the online class. Well, so much for that I guess. Also, there are apparently two different curriculums for this class that are dependent upon your major (also odd). There are no lectures in class, as those are given through the program that came with my book. Speaking of which, my book/program is where almost all the work I do comes from, aside from in class tests. I can't help but feel as though the "class" should have simply been thrown in with the price of the book, at this rate.

Now, I get past all this and mind my p's and q's in class. I work for a school, first and foremost, and refuse to be "that" student. Some how, though, I get the distinct feeling that my proffesor doesn't like. She takes an attitude with me when I ask questions (not smartass ones either, normal ones, like "should I staple these pages together?" or "did I title the test correctly?"). After turning in the test today, she asked me with quite a bit of an attitude, if I planned on waiting 'till class to take all of my tests as opposed to taking them before hand in the testing center. It was all I could do to answer the question nicely. I told her I work during the day, and that, yes, that was in fact what I was planning on doing, if that was ok *smiling politely*. (all the while thinking to myself that "yes, I was planning on showing up to do in class work during the time I signed up for to take this class, you stupid bitch! What the fuck type of question is that? Since you don't lecture, and this is the assigned time that was on my schedule, what else is there to do. I'd apologize if this is some sort of inconvenience, but I don't care enough and I'm not sorry.") My hopes are plummeting with everyday that I show up for this.
