In 2004 baby Isaac gave me hope. He does it again today.
Isaac decided he wanted to find a partner this year. Which is of course not easy. He was discouraged and frustrated at first. I gave him all the advice I could. I told him to expect it to take time and work. And I sent him a whole skincare regimen.
He told me he felt unattractive and like he was not, idk, what people wanted. “Isaac,” I said. “You are brilliant, you are funny, you are kind, you are thoughtful. You pitch in and do chores and are very fair about them. You’re going into a lucrative field and are financially responsible. You are healthy. You work out. You’re even tall. You are exactly what people want. You are especially exactly what Jewish girls want. Imagine how thrilled their parents will be. I consider you, Saul, and Raphael to be my gift to the female Jewish community.”
It didn’t actually take him long at all. He is now officially dating a nice Jewish girl named Judith. He’s bringing her here for winter break. He also cut his hair and it looks really good. and his skin is great now because he is actually following the regimen I sent him. (Yes, I am smug.)
He is deliriously happy. He called me yesterday to ask me where he can get flowers for her. Judith hit the Jewish girl jackpot.
Thinking of how happy he is makes me happy too. See, Isaac. You are everything I hoped for in 2004 when everything was so bleak. You are the thing making 2024 better.
