last few days I've been reading this thread on metafilter
http://www.metafilter.com/85667/Hi-Whatcha-reading and the discussion about it here:
http://metatalk.metafilter.com/18426/Watcha-reading-Well-this-thread-for-one-thing and they're pretty incredible.
the discussion stems from an article that kinda outlines why it's hard for guys to approach women in public - explaining why they are often so cautious. It's a good article, but the discussion really blew me away - a lot of women share their own personal stories of how they've been treated throughout their lives - which is a real eye-opener of the "holy crap so it's not just me" variety.
anyway, it's a long read, and the discussion gets derailed sometimes, but it's really worth it. A lot of guys commenting in the discussion are saying that it's a revelation, and that they had no idea of the crap women put up with - so if you're a guy that would like to relate better to women - set aside a few hours, and read.
