underneath cheshire moons
and pine needle rivers
firewood ashes and canopy slivers
she sits
and shivers

a windless whisper
shades the nightmare trees
her arms around her knees
she sits
and weaps

and every time she closes her eyes
she still can't see the azure skies
and she would reach a hand to catch the clouds
but they are gone

i have stood here and watched her for hours. she hasnt moved, she is still waiting. she doesn't know im standing here. her face is so beautiful, but i havnt seen it since she left.

countertop roses and bedside tables
paper-fold creases and pale gray
i still remember having to watch her
stand up
and fade away
