Surgery scheduled...
I'll be having my ACL replaced on June 1. Wish me luck! Now I have to decide what kind of graft I want. My doctor said if it were his knee he'd go with the cadaver. That eliminates the issue of compromising my other ligaments by cutting grafts from them and the recovery is supposed to be easier. It is kind of weird to think about having some dead person's ligament. But then, I'm an organ donor too so it's really not that strange. Here's a neat hypothetical - what if, when I die they take my left ACL (which I got used from someone else) and put it in a new person? That would be the 3rd owner for that ACL. Freaky stuff! I wonder if that's ever happened before.
Anyway, I still need to talk to some more people about the options before I make a final decision.
On another note, I'd like to mention something about the Virginia Tech killings but I just don't have the words. Needless to say my thoughts are with all of the victim's friends and families as well as the entire Virginia Tech community. There is no way for me to comprehend what these people are experiencing. It's just devastating.
