Sensory overload

On Monday night I returned from one of the best trips I've ever taken. There were six of us - one celebrating a birthday, on with a birthday and upcoming wedding, another about to start a family and the other three of us just celebrating the other ladies in California.

We started out in San Francisco, going out to a bar (aptly named Swig ) across the street from our hotel. The next morning we took some Exedrin and went shopping at H&M before checking out of our hotel and picking up our rental minivan - a white Dodge Caravan we dubbed "White Thunder."

From there we drove up through the mountains north of San Francisco and hiked in the Muir Woods. I had never seen giant redwoods before so this was an incredible experience. Plus it was nice to get some exercise. Here's a photo of the party girls between two of the giants.

After that it was on to our beach house in Dillon Beach. We stayed there for 3 days and took day trips to wine country. Besides tasting at the wineries, we went through 12 bottles of wine and 3 six-packs of beer in less than 3 days. We also ate some delectable food including a meal of tuna steaks, shrimp, steamed mussels, pasta and salad. We talked about girly stuff the whole weekend, soaked in the hot tub and watched the oscars. It was a blast!

Here we are at one of our first stops in the Russian River, Bella Winery.
