i have to code/program a MOD in php language to update our oneyoosu forum-

+ to prevent the annoying stupid spam bots to enter the site.

regular and basic php forum and user with captcha registration do not handle the computer-generated registration of spam bots. unless you provide a modification that will let the administrator add a few unique questions that can filter real-person registrations from the generated spam ones. i want to add this certain MOD, but aside from the mod coding, I still have to update the forum version that will require database configs - adds and drops. and that is just not that very easy to accomplish.

- it's basically taking down the whole site to install the updates
- backing up everything, in case the modification was unsuccessful
- i have to research what folders to backup, what to retain, what to remove
- can i try this in stand alone first? but ah, this is not basic html!
- it's okay to do a trial run only if this is for my personal use, but it isn't!

sheyt. this is not as easy as clubbox.
can't we do this using cobol or java, perhaps?

co-admins, co-mods, or anyone who's using/maintaining a forum, techie enough to php, HELPu?
