(the movie was just shown last Thursday here) We have been very eager to see this!~
I think Netherlands remained neutral during Hitler's regime - where many oppressed Jews also came to seek shelter. The Deutsch people is not at all proud of that part of history, the stigma has never been erased it seems. When we were there, we were told it is improper to do the Hitler salutation. unless you wanna be reprimanded, or worse put to jail. A train away from Germany, being here on lands greatly affected by the war, the movie made me ponder. very much so.
A worthwhile film. All the actors' portrayal are truthful and amazing. Nationalism has always been a subject that is both moving and compelling. Ahh.
