Fantastic cocksluts and where [I would prefer not] to find them
Percival Graves keeps calling Credence Barebone a cockslut in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them fanfic and I cannot take it anymore.
It rockets me out of the scene and straight into the CENTRE OF THE SUN if the sun is made of TOTAL ANTIPATHY TO ALL POSSIBLE SEXUAL FEELING.
This is a wee baby fandom and I really don’t want to pick on any one person in particular. I do, however, want to pick on the phenomenon in general SO HARD.
If you have a particular personal fetish for this word and it really gets your juicy parts juicing, then godspeed to you, I have no argument with you at all. However, if you are doing it because other people in fandom do it…
I put the following to you:
- ‘Cockslut’ is an absurd, quasi-tautological coinage of modern porn culture, arising because porn’s cliche of verbal abuse towards receptive sex partners (’slut’) lost potency from overuse.
- If somebody I was hooking up with tried to call me this, I would have to laugh explosively and rudely for a time, then get a hold of myself and ask them to leave as nicely as I could.
- Sub-point to above: if it goes down this poorly with me, a modern, secular, sexually liberal person, how would it go down with the sensitive, sheltered, virginal, highly religious Credence Barebone?
- The deficiency of social skills indicated by throwing absurd porned-up insults at your partner in bed without prior negotiation is so spectacular, the perpetrator would struggle to hold down a job. This is not sexy.
- Fantastic Beasts is SET IN NINETEEN TWENTIES NEW YORK YOU GUYS THIS WAS WHY COLIN FARRELL’S COSTUMING WAS SO SEXY YOU GUYS YOU GUYS YOU GUYS
