  • Rejoinder - Chapter 1 - Calico - Sherlock (TV) [Archive of Our Own]
    • Explosive conclusion to a Sherlock/John/Lestrade series. It's Calico, so what do you really need me to say? My comment:
oh my god oh my god. I was struggling to read this on the train because I felt like I was actually engaged in a public sex act.

It is very hard to make a horny Sherlock still seem like his rude, socially inappropriate self, but god does this work.

Also I had never really thought much about Rupert Graves either way, but now I suddenly have the hots for him massively and am galloping after him across the wilds of tumblr. What have you done to me?
  • needs must - Chapter 1 - thatotherperv - Suits (TV) [Archive of Our Own]>
    • Novel-length, satisfying Harvey/Mike BDSM quasi-hooker fic (they are still lawyers by day!).
  • Imperfection - Chapter 1 - stewardess - X-Men: First Class (2011), Prometheus (2012) [Archive of Our Own]
    • Stewardess continues with the mindbogglingly good Fassavoy AUs that execute an apparently cracky concept with intelligence, emotional depth and intense eroticism. This one is all about what it is to love as an immortal robot.

    • Her blurb: Contrary to Weyland Corp's claims, David (David 8, Michael Fassbender) is not effortlessly blending in with the human workforce. When Nine (David 9, James McAvoy) is sent to help him adapt, David discovers that, for the first time in his short existence, there is something he wants: to always be with Nine.
  • Budget Bytes: hearty black bean quesadillas $6.61 recipe / $0.66 each
    • A winner!

Used borlotti beans I had in the freezer.

I froze the quesadillas after cooking in skillet and cooling on a rack - the melted cheese sticks them together.
  • spaghetti with broccoli cream pesto | smitten kitchen
    • I steamed the broccoli in a basket, then boiled the pasta, in the same pot, but then used a separate saute pan. Stressful to make because of all the different things happening at once. But tasty!

I did a whole large head of broccoli and doubled the recipe for everything else. Only just fit in food processor.
  • Pumpkin Pie Brioche just in time for Thanksgiving! | Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day baked with this method
    • BOOM, pregnant. The house smelled like a cinnamon doughnut. Because it's wholemeal and has fruit and nuts, my story is that it's a respectable breakfast, and I'm sticking to it.
  • Healthy Sesame Chicken Skillet | How Sweet It Is
    • Delicious. Done entirely on stovetop in a nonstick pan: I just boiled the sauce a few minutes to reduce, which cooked the chicken plenty. Also pre-toasted the sesame seeds in dry pan before starting on chicken (NB the stated quantity of seeds is massive, far more than pictured with recipe). Served with brown rice (start this well before everything else) and mixed steamed veg with lemon juice (this takes slightly less time than chicken, but best to let it finish first because it can stay warm in pot better than chicken can). Biggest challenge was timings (and many pots to wash).
  • Butternut Squash & Bacon Mac n’ Cheese | Brown Eyed Baker
    • Ok on first day and delicious on second and subsequent. Not sure the baking step adds enough value to bother with in future. Also not sure pan-frying is best way to cook butternut squash: takes a long time under constant supervision, for not as rich a result as baking.
