You guys, I bought A CAR.
This was a bit of while ago, but I have been driving around IN MY CAR too much to be bothered posting on poobum lj. So there.
It is so much fucking fun. It's a giant computer game that I can play all day. I often randomly drive off somewhere else for fun instead of coming home right away.
And then usually end up spending too much money somewhere on something novel I have never conveniently been able to access before. And I am not even talking about how much petrol and parking cost, lalala never mind that now, I'm having too much fun.
Things wot I did IN MY CAR: I drove to Bunnings and bought outdoor furniture! I drove to the beach for a swim in the evening! I drove to work on a filthy hot day, smugly with the aircon on! I drove to Dad's (other side of town) and arrived/departed at my own goddamn leisure! I got rid of crap out of my flat that was too big to carry on foot! I drove all over the beachside Western suburbs just to see what was there! I shopped at the supermarket with an actual trolley, because I could actually transport that much stuff home!
So that is what is going on with me: I am IN MY CAR, YOU GUYS.
Speaking of groceries, have a mini food blog:
Mabo-don (Pork and Tofu)
Used
this recipe. I did my usual use-whatever's-in-the-cupboard-then-complain-when-it-doesn't-work trick - typically this involves my using chicken and noodles instead of duck and rice and then bitching that my duck and rice dish sucks. Except this time (my second attempt at this recipe) was awesome. I struggled not to scarf the whole pan.
My variations this time:
- start off frying one sliced onion and four sliced mushrooms before starting on the pork;
- for sake use vodka (last time I used white wine);
- use 4 x 18g miso paste sachets (I think I used 2 last time - no wonder it was bland);
- didn't have any scallions/spring onions so left it out;
- slosh in sweet chilli sauce to taste instead of the sugar and Korean chilli paste (don't think this is in Australian supermarkets);
- add [plain] sesame oil to frying oil at start rather than chilli sesame oil as garnish at end.
Ricotta [and lemon] Pancakes With Yoghurt, Banana & Honey
Recipe here.
Made exactly as per recipe, for once. These were completely awesome on every possible level. It was like someone smarter than me had made them and was smugly lording it over me.
