Arthur smiled in satisfaction. It was finally done. Though, he did have to change it a little, he was quite happy with how it turned out. He hung the poster on the door. It read:
Elizaveta was aimlessly wandering through the school, feeling restless in the current lull. She would have to join a club soon enough, but which one? The sports clubs seemed a good enough place to start and, considering her athleticism, she would cope quite well on them.
Her train of thought was interrupted when she saw a striking poster pined to one of the many doors around her.
She paused and tilted her head, taking a moment to let the club's name sink in. Black Magic.
"Huh."
Was that some kind of club for stage magicians or something?
Arthur looked up from the vials he had been placing on the shelves. He thought he heard a voice from outside the room. He glanced quickly at the girl putting books on the shelf. It wasn't her speaking. He took a peek outside.
There was another girl standing outside the door. She was staring idly at the poster he had put up not too long ago. Did she want to join? Well, that would solve his membership problem. It was worth a shot.
A young man with giant eyebrows popped out behind the door, startling her even though his tone was level and polite.
"Oh, well." This was probably his club. "What do you mean by 'magic'? Like, rabbits out of hats? Or-" Black magic. What was that again? "Ah, what's it called 'voodoo' and potions?"
The club gave her an uneasy feeling, but it seemed interesting nonetheless. Some sort of a morbid curiosity was motivating her to find out just what this club was all about.
Arthur took a moment to think before responding. "While I meant for this to be more of a potion kind of magic club," he paused, walking over to the girl, "I do know quite a bit of stage magic." He reached behind the girl's ear, and pulled out a coin. "It's actually quite easy."
She giggled at his trick. "You're quite a skilled magician, I suppose." It would be a fun change of pace at any rate. "What exactly does your club do, then? I mean, what do the club members do?"
Arthur pocketed the coin before responding. "Well, I was thinking of teaching magic, as in, spell magic, to anyone interested. But, I don't suppose it would hurt if you wanted to learn stage magic tricks... Though, those are much easier than real magic."
"Any kind of magic seems interesting." To her, at least. "Your club seems interesting too," she added, peeking inside the room filled with strange vials and old books.
It certainly would be a nice change of pace. At her last school, news of the (sometimes far too) crushing defeats she delivered gave her the unwanted reputation of being some sort of terrifying brute. A magic club run by a seemingly gentlemanly Englishman was certainly more... less violent. And his eyebrows were cute.
Arthur smiled slightly at her comments about magic. "It is interesting. I've always loved magic."
His smile fell a little at her question though. "Of course people can. There has been magic running through the Kirkland's bloodline for centuries. My roommate can perform magic as well." Most people thought he was crazy after this admitting this, but... the girl seemed nice enough.
OTL, exams are ruining how often I can RP. Sorry it's so late.eli_rubickscubeJanuary 14 2010, 06:11:46 UTC
His roommate too? He was passionate about magic, but it seemed he was some sort of magnet for it too. Then again, the whole school was a tad bit eccentric.
"You'd teach me, then. If I joined your club. Which I, um, would. Would like to do."
Lucky. Mine are next week. And I hurt my wrist just in time for tests... OTLeyebrow_sconeJanuary 22 2010, 20:52:52 UTC
"Not yet. I actually just started this club now. I haven't even thought out a schedule yet..." Maybe he should have done that first... It wasn't like him to be unprepared.
"I'm Arthur Kirkland. Well then, what would you like to start with? Stage magic?"
Ouch. ;_; That's tough. My wrists have been injured for too much essay questions.eli_rubickscubeJanuary 24 2010, 15:09:29 UTC
"That's a good a place as any, I guess," she replied brightly. The name 'Arthur', sounding a little old, fit his pensive face. "I've never really done something like this before."
Arthur gave a tentative smile. "Well, it's not that difficult. Would you like to try the coin trick? That's one of the simpler ones." He reached into his pocket and brought the coin back out.
Grabbing a coin, Arthur began to explain the trick.
"It's quite easy, really. For theatrics, you pretend you are putting the coin in your left hand, but you secretly keep it in your right. Then you close your left fist as if you have the coin in that hand, and keep your right hand loose at your side. You then open your left hand, and reveal that it is empty.
"After that, you just put your right hand to behind their ear. Using your thumb, push the coin to your fingertips and bring your hand out from behind the ear, showing everyone that the coin has magically reappeared." Well, it was a somewhat long explanation, but he hoped it was clear enough.

"Ah, of course. Well... We can start now, if that's alright."
He had nothing else to do, and he hadn't thought out a schedule for the club yet. Might as well get started now.

She peered back into his club room. "Not many other members yet, I suppose? I'm Elizabeta, by the way."
