long time, long time. long, long entry.

This has certainly been some year! I have not updated since January. I redid my journal again, it's back to the simple way that it once was. Unfortunately, I had to redo all of my override codes. Now that was a pain in the butt. It's sooo nice weatherwise here! It's nice and hot (I love the heat). I have finals on Tuesday and Wednesday and then I'm finished with school for the summer! I can't believe next year is my senior year. That's a bit SCARY.

I'm taking: Sociology(H), Economics(H), AP Spanish 5, AP English, Trig(H), Stats(H), Foods/Nutrition, Study Hall, and Chem 1. I'll have my hands full for next year but I think I can do it. My summer homework for Spanish is
to watch these ten different movies and then take notes on them.  We have packets that we have to fill in for each movie where we are required to not things such as the presence and function of language in the story and different elements of culture that appear through the film.  The whole theme of the summer assignment is "preserving culture through film." It's actually a pretty cool idea I think and it sure as hell beats reading books like El Cid.  I really didn't enjoy that one so much.  As far as my AP English summer homework, I'm still unsure of what it is. I know it has something to do with reading at least 500 pages of two classic novels and posting on the web each week, but I don't know of any specifics yet.  On another note, next year I'm also thinking of running x-country. I figure that if I don't enjoy it I can always quit, and it's not like I care since it'll be my senior year.

I can't wait for it all to begin, summer that is. The first part of it is a little rocky, as I have to take 2 standardized tests and get surgery, but the rest should be good. Ahh it's so scary because
when I return to school I have to think about applying to COLLEGE. That's not daunting or anything! Here's what the summer looks like on paper:

June 3: Spanish Subject Test
June 7: Surgery (blahhh)
June 10: ACT Test (againnn...)
June 19: Leave for Los Angeles -- wooowee!
June 22: College visits to Loyola Marymount and USC
June 23: Santana Concert @ the Hollywood Bowl w/ Dave (I love the Bowl!)
June 26: Sleepover at Megan's HOUSE!!! YES!
June 27: Beach Day with Megan!
June 29: Sleepover @ Jaci's
June 30: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat @ the Pantages with Dad
July 2: Return to Illinois
July 13-16: Pittsburgh trip! (Will be visiting UPitt and Carnegie Melon & hopefully visiting the Andy Warhol Museum!)
July 20-23: Illini Soccer Camp - will be rooming w/ Alexsis - as always haha
July 29 - Aug. 6: Fly back to California (this time it's Sonoma - yes vinyards & wineries!! and the San Francisco area)
-hopefully I'll visit Haight!
-will be visiting Stanford and Santa Clara University
Aug. 18 - Aug. 20: Galesburg, IL! Yes! I've never been here and it'll be fun to go antiquing around. I do loveeee ANTIQUES

I bought new books the other day ... Dare I say it? from, from... Borders.  I can't believe it. I actually bought books from Borders in stead of Barnes & Noble.  But I do have a good reason.  It's because I had to go to Best Buy to buy graduation gifts for people and Borders is just across the street as opposed to Barnes & Noble which is a street over.  So I guess it boils down to my being lazy. Oh well. I bought Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson,
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury (I LOVE LOVE LOVE this story), Black Like Me by John Howard Griffen (very intrigued by this one), and The Heart is a Lonley Hunter by Carson McCullers.  I bought all classics with the hope of reading some of them for my summer assignment for AP English, but who knows what that will be specifically.  I'm  currently reading the book Honeymoon with my Brother.  It's about this guy whose fiancee dumps him three days before his wedding and he decides to go ahead and have the wedding anyway and go on his honeymoon anyway.  Instead of with his new wife though, the guy goes with his brother who he hasn't really talked to in years and it's his memoir of how thye get to know each other through their different excursions to foreign countries.   I'm a fiction guru, but lately I've been finding that I enjoy people's memoirs if they have some semblance of substance that's more than just "I was so fucked up then ... Blah blah, this is how I got through it."

Last night I made mini chocolate chip cookies. They're SO cute! I had leftover dough from the last time I made cookies, so I just thawed it and decided to make mini cookies. Ahh! I love them. Just thought I'd share that with you all!

Well since this has been a thorough update and I'm tired of writing (even though I could ramble on forever) I'm going to stop because it's already 12:33pm and I have to attend our high school's graduation @ 3. I have a few things to do before then like eat lunch, figure out what I'm going to wear, and most importantly GO RUNNING (even though it's like 90º out). After graduation I'm going to stop by some grad parties to deliver gifts.
