In what sense, if any, is the debate on what building to raise on ground zero important? What, in your view, should replace the WTC?
The debate on the successor of the WTC is mucho importante. The most prevailing suggestions-candidates are aiming at moving the American public and the people of the rest of the globe; move them in a sentimental way, that is.
The idea of raising an even bigger building than before represents that size does matter. But, I believe that the female population of America will be against this phallic litany, this effort to create a sense of prestigious masculinity.
Another idea is to raise a hotel so as for all the destruction-lovers around the world to become residents of the most famous hotel on Earth with the hope that they can say to their friends, after their visit, how strange it felt to live a couple of hundreds of feet above the already decomposed leftovers of the victims of the WTC “terrorist” attack. Stories of ghosts and strange geo-electromagnetic vibes will surface the cesspool of world news. All the hype put aside, America will once again prove how it can exploit human stupidity to its best interest.
The third dominant option though is the most frightening of them all. According to this option nothing should be built as a replacement of the WTC (RIP). Sadly, I don’t know if the supporters of this plan want to leave the ruins intact (for visual effect) or just build a small memorial statue or something like this. In any case, it is obvious that by doing this there will be created a womb of ongoing and perpetuating hate towards the haters of America, towards terrorism, towards Satan. This will undoubtedly solidify the bonds of the American public, the bonds of a chain that the more it rusts the more easily it can contaminate those who come in contact with it with tetanus.
Although there have been presented some humorous alternatives depicting buildings with curves or a huge hole at their center (so that a plane can fly through them and no one gets hurt), I would suggest something else: the raising of a WP, if not a WC, where all the ones responsible for political crimes would be encaged. With honorary remarks, Mr. G.W. Bush should be the first resident of the WP and next should follow the respected Mr. H. Kissinger. No WP such as this could be considered as complete without hosting all the owners of the names printed in small letter in the book History of Political Raping.
PS. WP stands for World Prison. WC stands for World Crematorium, but we are, supposedly, a civilized world.
