singular. the perspective affected
by negative treaties.

"this is the way i fly", pointing to the
blue and gray of sky.
"no one follows", she explains
to none listening.
"no one knows this way", she points
to her heart
and remembers her manners
and lets the pointer drop
and smiles with no light.

"alone is the regular way", discounting
the room full of speakers.
"they can't see your steps for
their eyes are elsewhere"--

"count on yourself for they cannot
hold your heart, it is
large and cumbersome
and their smiles can only
go so wide before they
break."

the crowd is hushed, bristling
with indignation.
"how dare she belittle our
importance, contribution, influence...
who cares for her heart, anyway?
it is worthless when we are
ten feet tall. it is pointless,
this calamity of emotion.
now be off with you before you
taste
the sweetness of our love."
