summary: Returning to normalcy isn't easy.

They Must Try to Remember

Because it is so easy to forget.
Through the cloud of Floo powder,

they must try to remember.
Through the clockwise stirs of potion,

through the Dreamless Sleep,
through Sunday dinner with family,

they must try
to keep their hearts open.

They must try to remember
Love was what saved them.

commentary: Yesterday I was going through a poetry book and came across a line about enduring family members, which jumpstarted this small poem. Most people know how that is: there are times you endure family even if you don't want to, even if you find it hard to love them. With the elections here also becoming very draining, that kind of steered me toward a general poem about a society, which naturally led to post-war society in HP verse. :) I was thinking that while Voldemort's destruction was a great thing, there would still be lasting negative effects: depression, post-traumatic stress. Returning to normalcy isn't easy. Luckily, they do at least have Lily Potter's example to remind them of the power of love.
