Best of the year
I wanted to do that Writer's Block from a few days ago, the "best movie, song, and book you've experienced this year" one, but didn't get around to it until now.
Best movie: Sometimes in April
Best song: Stay Here Forever, by Jewel
Best book: Drawing Blood, by Poppy Z. Brite
To be honest I haven't listened to much new music this year. I heard Jewel sing Stay Here Forever on a morning show a month ago and later found an acoustic version of it, so I've been listening to that relatively often. Never get tired of it.
And if graphic novels count as books, the Buffy season 8 volume 5 (Predators and Prey) is a close runner up! I just finished it today and gods, what fun. It's kind of a collection of one-shots, less continuous than previous volumes, but AWESOME one-shots. Buffy and Andrew going on a mission! The best. And the Giles & Faith story, called Safe, was gorgeous. Sometimes it gets a little tricky telling who is who with Georges Jeanty's art, but this other artist made it easy and a pleasure to rake my eyes over. Also I'm just in love with the Giles/Faith duo. I want them to have a series all their own.
I haven't read volume 6 yet, the one with Oz, but I've got it here. Sooner or later...
ETA: Pffft, if I had known cleaning out my LJ inbox was as easy as clicking "delete all"... lololol, I prob wouldn't have even brought it up a few weeks ago.
