I'm making this a separate entry because it's a separate issue.
My stepsister Cheyenne, who is seven years old going on eight and who is one of the greatest kids on the planet, was diagnosed with cancer this September. She's got a good chance at beating it because of her age and because they caught it early enough. It's been very rough, though...on her as well as on my family, on my mom, whom I worry about a lot sometimes.
I don't think I've ever asked anyone to do that "send good vibes, thoughts or prayers" thing. I don't exactly pray a lot myself these days. But regardless of whatever spiritual fuzziness (or certainty, depending on who you are) abounds...if you have a second and want to send a good thought in the general direction of my South Cairo household, I know it would be welcome.
(Yet another reason why I don't want to be this far away from home next year. )
