Cancer

The Oncologist said "We have lost control over your cancer." Not words I wanted to hear, but words I expected. I think my wife needed to hear them more than me.

Also, yesterday's blood tests found red cells so low I was shipped off the the hospital for two units of whole blood, along with an injection of some magic drug to make my body produce these things. I did not know until yesterday that it takes over 2 hours for a unit of blood to drip into your veins. So, what with the typing and cross matching and infusing, I was there for most of the day.

Yesterday also brought a referal to a vascular surgeon. The stent placed in my abdomen last January to open the vein that was being strangled by a tumor is losing and the edema in my legs is back. Not good, as the good Doctor said. If it isn't fixed you could lose your leg.

And to finish a wonderful day, I am scheduled for a CT this afternoon to check if my shortness of breath is caused by a clot that broke off from the stent that isn't working so well anymore.

Good Times.
