Anthony's P.O.V.
Never heard,
Never seen,
Never noticed,
Behind a screen.
You picked me up,
Made me whole,
Made life worth living,
You touched my soul.
With your lips like flower petals,
And your eyes rimmed ice blue,
With your humour great and always intact,
I fell, like rain, for you.
Keeping it to myself,
We grew up together,
Countless smiles and secret handshakes,
Best friends forever.
Watching you with different girls,
Knowing I could never be that way,
Knowing I could never tell you my secret,
I already knew what you would say.
You would smile gently,
Put your arm around me,
We're just friends, I'm straight,
Sorry Anthony.
So I kept it to myself,
Years went by,
Breaking my heart repeatedly,
You went by obliviously.
Then you met her,
Your one and only,
Your Melanie,
And you no longer had time for me.
I was all alone,
Never seen,
Never heard,
Back behind my screen.
You moved out,
You left me,
Packed your bags with no word,
Leaving me for Melanie.
I dealt silently,
Alone for a year,
Then on my doorstep,
Your eyes filled with tears.
You say you left her,
You say you no longer care,
You say you've missed me,
I break under you stare.
I should leave you out there,
For leaving me so long,
For breaking my heart,
But to see you is like a song.
You move back in,
But the awkwardness is there,
Tip-toe-ing around eachother,
Avoiding searching stares.
Eating lunch, two weeks later,
You sigh and stare into my eyes,
Blue on brown, you drop your cutlery,
Letting out nervous sighs.
You open your mouth,
Your face red like you have been where it's sunny,
Trying to form words, your in distress,
But I can't help but find it funny.
Don't laugh!
I tighten my lips, sorry.
Okay, stop eating,
Just be silent and listen to me.
His face is more serious than I have ever seen,
Cheeks red and eyes worried,
I reluctantly drop my pizza,
I smile encouragingly, you may proceed.
So, I don't know if you want to know why I came back...
Well... Shut up and listen!
He smiles jokily but nervously.
Sorry, you're like a teacher in a lesson!
Funny one bro, but listen,
My life was good, everything was fine,
I had Melanie and I thought I was happy,
So you prefered your life away from mine?
Hold on,
I had a girl, a house, I thought everything,
But the more I was with her,
I felt I was missing something.
Your laugh, your smile,
Your jokes from out of the blue.
Your warm brown eyes,
You, I was missing you...
Ian... Don't say anything,
Don't tell me you're not gay,
I know you aren't,
I have liked you for a while.
Okay, now it's your time to shut up,
Don't assume my feelings,
I have been mad at you for a while, since you left,
But seeing you again made my hear sing.
I have loved you for years,
You never even knew it!
Both of us, gobsmacked,
Staring in silence we sit.
His pale hands sit on the table,
I reach out and join mine to his,
Blue ice melts with a shine,
As he leans in for a long awaited kiss.
