Hello everyone,
I am officially in panic mode for September! My instrumental placement audition is September 5 and I am not ready yet. I had a lesson with Don two days ago and we didn't get through all of my excerpts so I am going back on Friday to finish them. This audition is the most important playing period of the entire school year next to juries. If i don't do well not only will the panel think badly of me but I'll get placed in crappyy groups like Musical Theater Pit!!!!!!! I will chew my own hands off if I have to play for one of their shows! (one of the shows we're doing this year might be Rent...AAAAAAA!!!!!) My instrumental audition is not the only thing I am prepping for either. I am planning to audition for the New York String Orchestra Seminar. This requires making a recording of some of my solo work which I have been neglecting a little because of my excerpts as well as a very fast and very difficult orchestral piece. This audition will be a pain in the ass because I have to make a pre-recorded cd of my entire audition repetoire and then have a live audition. Here's the kicker, the closest place I can audition live is New York City (FML)! So yeah, lots of music and lots of planning. Lots of paper work too! I have to fill out the NYSOS Application and provide a Musical Experience sheet. I am also in the process of filling out paper work for on-campus jobs. I hope I can get one this year. Anyway, thats my life, now I must stop telling you about it and work! Goodbye!
