Age: Approximately 17.
Canon point: After he dies.
Personality: Luciola is, without question, stoic to the MAX. As TV Tropes puts it, he is labeled an "Extreme Doormat" because of his tendency to (for the most part) do whatever he is ordered to, without question. But that's less of a personality trait, and more of the fact he's very much aware of his "rank" within the Guild. He's a servant, and nothing more. At least, that's what he's been taught to believe from a young age (probably around seven or eight).
He was given to Dio, from Delphine, as a "present" to be a personal servant. But Dio was not any typical Guild member, and wound up treating Luciola more like a friend rather than a slave. "Luciola" isn't even his true name, but rather, one Dio had given to him during their first meeting. His real name remains unknown, but Luciola shows no desire to be called anything else.
His loyalty, for the most part, is to Dio, and then next, to Maestro Delphine, his sister. They are the only people in the Guild he "knows" despite having been a part of it his entire life. His loyalty to Dio seems to falter, as he betrays him in fear of Delphine's power.
He knows he's a servant. He doesn't challenge that, and doesn't ever intend to. Luciola would have been perfectly content serving Dio forever, but once Delphine alters Dio's mind, Luciola begins to betray the Guild by helping Claus and Al escape, as long as they took Dio with them. If Claus refuses to, Luciola promises to kill him. He has no qualms about injuring others, or even killing, if it is for Dio's safety. Once they've left, Luciola heads to Delphine's chamber, defeating several guards and engaging in a fight with his own brother, Cicada. He kills his brother, and finally has Delphine's attention, to which he actually takes initiative and demands she free Dio.
Since they have known each other for such a long time, Luciola's personality seems to have molded to fill in for whatever Dio lacks. Dio is fairly reckless, but Luciola is extremely careful. Dio is talkative and energetic, while Luciola doesn't make any movement or speak unless there's a necessity in doing so. Together, they form a balance. It's his job to protect Dio, yes, he'll be executed if he fails to do so, yes - but he genuinely cares about the other. He was the only person to ever treat Luciola as someone even remotely human.
In just about every situation, Luciola reacts in what he sees as the most logical or analytical way. He does this because providing information is what he sees as the best way to serve Dio. Of course, Dio doesn't agree to that, for the most part, and attempts to get Luciola to lighten up.
Considering how Luciola seems very mature already, there isn't a whole lot of growth that went on during his time in Pleasantville. The only "change" that occurred was that now he was given about a years worth of time to think about his actions and the repercussions they had.
Powers/Abilities: Luciola is also a skilled fighter, as per his Battle Butler duty. As mentioned earlier, he is capable of taking on several guys in a fight, as well as able to kill Cicada (in one of the weirdest fight scenes ever. They start getting all Matrix-esque in their movement), but no actual super abilities.
Prose sample: Time in Pleasantville passed like a daydream. A time spent without real consciousness, he was pretty startled when he found himself even alive to begin with. Was this some form of afterlife? It felt unrealistic enough for him to believe that. Time passed by in a daze, as Luciola spent his time doing what he was prompted to by the 'wives,' lacking something of a feeling of self-direction.
At the time, he had felt that the name had been inappropriate. It was far from a pleasant stay, his mind still refusing to rest and worried solely on whether or not Dio was safe. He had no way of knowing, and the 'wives' had no real answers to his questions. He avoided them as much as possible; their blank personalities striking a little too close to home in reminding him of Dio, and sending him back to feeling guilty. Dio had lost everything that shined so brilliantly about him, once put through that machine. His will, his freedom, his mind… It was his fault. It was his fault.
Luciola shook his head slightly to change his train of thought. He wasn't in Pleasantville right now, and that meant he should find out just where he was now. And if it was the afterlife, still…
…At least this one looked more like a place where he deserved to be, after what he had done.
It was "Vegas," or so he assumed, recalling that he had heard about it in passing by a few of the women that had inhabited Pleasantville. However, he didn't expect to find the city in such a frail and dilapidated state.
After reading the pamphlet (with a certain amount of doubt, although he's not sure what he holds to be true right now) and looking over the card, the phone, and the map that he had found on himself, Luciola decided to explore. Sure enough, the billboard with the "achievements" were in plain sight. A handful of minutes of exploring and looking around, he'd taken note of a few things. Most buildings on the main road were still intact, and looking functional, for the most part. He hadn't entered any building yet, because the people he had seen were of more interest to him anyway. Different from the women in Pleasantville, some of these people even had a manner of dress he couldn't recognize, and acting much more lively than what he had been forced to live with for a year.
And yet another thing of note… was that every individual that he had passed was decidedly male (even if some gave ambiguous impression). Then again, he was used to Dio's trap-like haircut and make-up, so he was able to tell relatively quickly. A strange contrast in comparison to the last year he had spent surrounded only by women, and not entirely unwelcome.
Once he travelled back to where he had started, the "Mirage" hotel, he found himself staring at the fountain. Was that even water? It looked as bad as Third Water, and smelled even worse, but Luciola couldn't tear his eyes away from his rippled reflection in whatever liquid this was.
Such a good majority of his life had been spent in taking care of someone else… he was trained to serve, and nothing else. Being without his Lord -- his… friend -- for so long brought him a strange feeling of… loneliness.
Slowly, he moved a hand from inside his cloak outfit, to just barely touching the bubbling "water" as it ran over the tips of his glove. This "life" felt just as unrealistic as Pleasantville, but he won't waste his time here. If he was given another chance at life, for some reason, he would find something purposeful to do with it.
