i had a dream last night that i was in a video store renting a movie
two of the big movies advertised had fully naked women on the covers, perfectly placed bodies. i picked one up and started commenting on the ridiculousness of the movie covers considering women don't have the rights to their own bodies- they are constantly purchased and and changed and told to make them better. Outside of this realm, expression is limited. the video store clerk, who was female, approached me and i explained to her that the movie covers were entirely demeaning, and that we should not disembody women for money. she told me it was just a movie, and just entertainement, and i should embrace the fact that women can make money from showing their bodies. I persisted that this wasn't benefiting any women, it was actually limiting how women could express themselves in reality. and in my dream i was screaming and pulling movies off the shelves and throwing them at the ground.
and then i awoke to find this a real problem in my life.
