Oooh! I missed seeing the first two chapters, so got to read all three lovelies at once. I love the characterizations you've established here: two people who need each other so badly yet can't admit it, who see their own shortcomings yet see the other's strength. I'm definitely looking forward to the next parts.

Thankyou -- I was definitely going for that. It's Clark and Lois all over isn't it? They're both so ready to see the best in other people and the worst in themselves.
I think my favorite part of this piece, was Clark's, "You came back." It was as if he was surprised and not all surprised, at the same time. And, then as an afterthought, "From my mom," which we all know that he really wanted to do it. I just wish he'd realize this and maybe he has, and in his subtle way he's just gauging things or how to go about them. In any case, this is just as beautiful as the other peices and I am enamoured with your writing. I hope you do more. :)

Oh seriously. I have no doubt that when he told Martha about what Lois said to the 'Red-Blue Blur' she was like, "Give that girl a kiss from me," -- but really he did it because he wanted to kiss her, because without knowing it she had made everything a little more bearable for him.
And, that's absolutely everything wrapped in what I love about Lois Lane, that's just what she does for the Red-Blue-Blur, and for Clark without even realizing it. It's a perfect illustration of her actions in, Stiletto, when Clark tells her that she has to get him out of there and she doesn't question him and doesn't hesistate - she just does it. It's for him, which is why I love this gravitation pull that he has when it comes to Lois Lane being in his world, and quite possibly being more than a friend and co-reporter, but someone whom he can trust himself with - trust just about everything regarding himself with, the bigger more important things.
This, is why he wanted to do that. You're absolutely spot on. :)
