[MOD] AO3 posting and Deadline Extension

Aug 18, 2015 23:55

Greetings from your fantastic mods! (⌐■_■)

We hope your writing is going well, or as well as we writers who like to chase deadlines can manage. We're here to update you on some general housekeeping matters. No bad news, we promise!

I. AO3 posting:

After taking into account your opinions and deliberating several methods, we've come to some decisions on the posting of Extrafictionary works:
  • Extrafictionary will be hosting works on AO3, taking advantage of the benefits offered by the archive.
  • Only the fics themselves will be hosted there. Naturally, the comments received will be kept there as well - we will disable commenting on Dreamwidth. The posting of headers, voting polls, round masterlists and overall masterlist will be kept on Dreamwidth. We will keep using Livejournal and Dreamwidth as bases.
  • As we do not have sufficient time to test out the 'challenge' feature on AO3, we will not use this feature for the first edition. Future editions will likely use this feature, however, after we test it out. For this edition, we will host the works on a mod account over at AO3 to maintain author anonymity. You don't have to post your work to AO3 yourself.
After posting is over, we will be able to tranfer the fics to your personal AO3 account, if you have one and if you wish to. This can be done by us adding your account as a co-author and then removing ourselves. The work will return to your list of works and you will have total control over it (even deleting, but please don't do so 'cause we wouldn't want to receive numerous 'your link is dead' emails and tweets T^T. Also, your work is beautiful, please don't be ashamed of it).

So, for that to work, please SEND US AN EMAIL with the following information:

1. your AO3 username if you have one. If you don't, let us know you will need an invite.
2. If you want us to transfer the fic to your account or not.

If you remain silent, your work will stay on our mod account over at AO3. Please, put "AO3", your LJ username and team in the email subject. Thanks!

II. Deadline extension

After the second check-in, we have determined that the authors could benefit from a general deadline extension. Therefore, we are extending the final deadline and giving you one extra week.

New timeline:
☆ Final deadline (3,000 words): September 10
☆ Posting: September 14

We hope this will give the authors sufficient time to produce a better work for Extrafictionary. If after this, you still need more time, you will have to contact us to figure something out but let's hope it won't be the case!

For now, happy writing!
