Two books I read on the plane. Expect me to read basically nothing else until December rolls around... still, it's been a good run! I definitely didn't expect to read over a hundred books this year.

A People's History of the United States was required reading for my US history class but I've reread it several times now because I've enjoyed it so much. I'm due for another reread soon. <3

I think maybe the reason I connect so well with Austen is because she doesn't bring the god into it. And also why Mansfield Park can be so hard to digest, because it's based on this antiquated religion-based code of morality that skirts fundamentalist.

Oh nooo, but I like Mansfield Park a lot! Because I read it as 'essentially the dark side of Austen's moralism'.
