Forget all you ever heard about grumpy village pub landlords giving strangers the cold shoulder and step forward the (fairly new) landlord of Ye Olde Forge Valley Inn at West Ayton, near Scarborough. After a fruitless search of the village for a guitar maker's workshop, we fell in there for sustenance. The steak pie was a proper, top and bottom pastry, pie with great chips, peas and a personal jug of rich gravy - that was good enough - but the landlord, hearing of our problem, did a net search, found the place four villages away and brought us a landline to ring it, the pub being a black hole for the smartphones. What a star!
Result, my brother now has his stunning designed and made for him guitar. Source of the problem: H had guitar maker's home address and phone number, where he'd always contacted him (apart from Whitby folk week) and guitar maker didn't realise H didn't know the workshop was elsewhere.
And what a guitar! H's workshop recital may appear on U tube. Guitarists among you may like to check out www.chapelguitars.com
