Thanksgiving, family, and Jarhead!

So I had a lovely Thanksgiving. It was a family reunion, so I saw lots and lots of people whose faces I only vaguely remember. I have a lot of cousins (second cousins) right around my own age, I had no idea! Jack and colleen are 18 and... 22ish, Keith and Marissa are 18 and 19, John, Meghan and Jennifer are 21, 25 and 26ish. It was very cool, a very youthful kind of feel, which I didn't anticipate. I obviously re-met all their parents as well, and I have a pretty darn cool family. :) Becky and John (who hosted the thing and have the three kids) in particular are awesome. I also got to see my close family members that I see all the time (read: at least once a year, as opposed to once a decade): Uncle Frank and Aunt Anne, Uncle Andy and his son Sam, cousin Meg and her husband Jeff with their kids Hazel and Toby. It was awesome. 28 people in a not so large house = deafening at times, but it was great nonetheless :)

I alas did not get to see Rent yet (Tomorrow!! *squee*) but I DID see Jarhead! And it was fantastic. Just extremely well done. I thought all the acting was wonderful - Jake, Peter, and Jamie are just so talented. So so talented. It was gritty and real but not grotesque. I loved that balance. I have a couple small quibbles with it, but that's true of all movies! Overall, two thumbs up :)
I have to ask... am I going to burn in a special level of hell for slashing marines? ^_^
