Cause I'm just one of those ghosts

Helloooooo Livejournal! Remember me? Long time no see! I think this might be the longest I've gone without posting to LJ um..... ever. Two whole weeks! :( I'm very sorry, but I have been terribly busy and hardly able to even keep up with my job, much less blogging! But I've got a little time to breathe now for the first time in ages, so I'm going to do a long overdue concert report post!

As a side note, I really do miss being regularly involved in LJ. I'm still on several communities (particularly football related right now) but it's just not the same as interacting with my lovely flist. I haven't even caught up on my flist reading in ages, so if something big happened to you, or even if just life happened and you want to talk about it, please do drop me a note! I'd love to hear about it. ♥

On August 6th, I had the most wonderful opportunity to see the one and only Something Corporate on their reunion tour! They played at the awesome Fillmore in Detroit. I have loved SoCo's music since high school, and I went with angel726 who was an ever bigger SoCo fan back in the day, so it was really thrilling for us. And it lived up to every expectation! We had GA tickets but we were both very tired, so when we walked through the bar area and saw tables with perfect views of the stage at $10 per seat - we snagged them! So we got to sit, nom on waffle fries, and have a perfect view of the entire show - pretty fucking sweet. The band sounded so fantastic! Andrew MacMahon is just a glorious frontman, so engaging and talented - it was my first time getting to see him live! They played a fantabulous setlist that included most of my favorites, including Fall, Watch the Sky, Punk Rock Princess, Walking By, etc etc etc. Just gorgeous. I was brought to tears several times, particularly during Konstantine, which is not a song I know well but the whole audience was so captivated and heartfelt that I couldn't help but be moved. Wait was beautiful as well. I'm really really glad I got the chance to have that experience, because it may have been a once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing.

I also went to see PARAMORE on the Honda Civic Tour! \o/ That was just a blast. I'd never seen them live and always wanted to because I really love the new album! It was in a big outdoor amphitheater and angel726 (my concert partner in crime!) and I had pretty fantastic seats up close near the middle. As a highly pleasant surprise we also got Tegan & Sara as openers, even though we thought they weren't going to be on this date! Yay! They were excellent and adorable and funny and I really enjoyed the set, and I'm definitely planning on checking out their new album. Then Paramore blew my face off!! Hayley is just such a little firecracker of a frontwoman, and hoo boy, her VOICE. :D The guys are all hotasses and the music just makes me want to dance. Basically it was super duper über fun and I loved it. :D (UMLAUTS - I CAN HAS THEM!) There was a great bit in the middle where they brought out a couch and lamp and sat around playing a few songs acoustic, including Misguided Ghosts and Where the Lines Overlap. ♥♥♥ It was a great feeling to be in such a large, young, excited crowd - reminded me strongly of my first concert ever, which was Fall Out Boy on the HCT as well! (PLUS COBRAS AND TAI, EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T KNOW WHO THEY WERE /o\) Soooo that was awesome.

And my video! I love the audio on my camera, gosh. :)

Other things that happened in August that I need to post about: California and Chicago! Where I met DAVID HEWLETT AND JOE FLANIGAN! :)))) But I'm just going to post this before it languishes in a tab for another 2 days. I seriously suck. My research is going badly right now, and football is the only thing keeping me happy, so... I've been distracted. Alas. Til next time! ♥
