I am staying very hydrated, actually. :( It's not that.
I'm feeling reasonably confident too, though I bounce between that and terrified that our string of awesomeness just can't keep being so awesome - life isn't that awesome! Haha. But no, it's an excellent point, and it's how I've consoled myself about the temporary loss of Mueller. I thought, well, we've lost Mueller, but we've still got Oezil (who's been rather quiet these last two games, but I think in Mueller's absence he could really step it up a notch), Schweini, Poldi, Miro, Khedira, and even Lahm and Boateng as playmakers who have been dangerous and effective on the attack. In short, we have a team that is working together towards a common goal. (Lol, goal) Spain on the other hand has been incredibly reliant on Villa to rescue them - can you imagine if Villa was suspended instead of Mueller? Ha!
So yes. This is absolutely a team that is gelling gorgeously and IF they keep playing like they are, they should have no problem against Spain. But Spain could surprise us, like you said - and that's what's worrying me!
Remember, we lost Miro for the Ghana game, and look what happened there. We were not at our best form, but we still did well, and that was before being able to ride on the England and Argentina victories. I don't think taking out any single player ruins the team as a whole, and Mueller's absence will be no different. Besides, it is completely ridiculous to think that we're relying on a player who just a few months ago was playing in youth leagues! I mean, really guys, we're more than Mueller.
Unfortunately I think Oezil's recent loss of his grandmother is affecting his performance and there's no good way to fix that. (I admit I'm working on writing fic involving this fact, Nutella, and Schweinski. What can I say? I'm shameless.)
I don't want to underestimate Spain. Most of their men are absolutely DANGEROUS at club level so they definitely have the talent to beat us, as long as they bring their own team unity and good form. I want the game to be good as much as I want us to win. Then again, I wonder if England and Argentina underestimated us because our men tend to do so poorly at club level? *stuff to ponder*
Tomorrow will be awesome to watch either way! I'm actually going to the pub for this one in my Bayern Munich trainer jersey (and if anyone thinks I'm rooting for Spain because I'm wearing red, I swear to God...)
