One other thing to throw at you -- you seemed to like dublin a lot...you could look into the chemistry grad programs in dublin/ireland if you're interested. And a slight difference between the american and european doctorates is that (at least for biology) the european version gives you 3 years to get a ph.d, while most american programs insist on dragging you through at least 5, if not more.

Woah, woah, honey. I totally appreciate what you're saying about your life plan, but in all seriousness, it's your future. You can socialize with whomever you'd like, but don't throw away what you'd really like to do with your life because you're worried about meeting boys. You'll meet boys. I work in opera, and I've dated an aspiring junior senator, a lawyer and someone going into economics. I have no desire whatsoever to date an opera singer, but that's what I want to devote my life to, so I balance the two. Put yourself first, follow your dreams. The rest will fall into place.
