I was messing with my nails earlier. Really messed up. So I went to my 'rent's room to look for paint thinner, or whatever it is that makes my nails right, but I found something else.
A double-disk album of LEAN: a Filipino Musical. You know. Lean Alejandro, the student activist murdered during the Marcos regime. It's all sorts of awesome. I've only listened to the first CD so far and now I'm blogging about it.
But wait! There's more! I checked the inlay for information about the play. Lookie at the cast:
LEAN -- Chikoy Pura (You know. Of punk band The Jerks)
LIDDY -- Cooky Chua (COOKY CHUA! The singer, you fags!)
BOBBY -- Bayang Barrios (WTF is wrong with this musical, it's got legendary singers on it.)
EDWARD -- Noel Cabangon (The folk artist, goddamnit.)
If that wasn't enough to make my pulse race, guess who wrote the songs and music? Gary Granada.
The best song I've found so far is the musical's version of UP Naming Mahal. Dude. Our alma mater's song is in a musical. San ka pa?
