When I realized that I could accept neither the concept of god (any concept of god) that had been handed to me by those who had gone before nor the idea of a universe without a foundational principle I replaced the word god with the word Beauty. I then wrote a paper called 12 points on art and beauty, in which I outlined the idea of Beauties tendancy to percieve and express itself and I outlined several ideas suggestive of the structure of Beauty. That document became the foundation (or perhaps glue would be a better term) of the City. Taking ideas that had existed in my head for many years and creating a cohesive whole.
It also gave birth to DFS@FEP and the Human Trinity, both of which are concepts central to the City.
So, when asked to define the City what do I say? Well, of course for the moment I say "It's a pipe dream, something I will start working on in the very near future." But as far as the intention: "A Microscopic and macroscopic lens utilizing fantasy, archetype and semiotics to analyze personal and societal paradygms with the inntention of encouraging growth and devolopment." Which is a mouthful... so I say different things to different people. just last week I finalized some of the last touches of the concept, and they bring the conception of the City itself to an end... there are still many peoples and creatures and persons to flesh out, but that will be my life work. My poetry has changed to accomodate the setting, my music revolves aroudn the setting the character of Exquisite Oath is well defined within the setting. Everything makses sense within the whole. I am able to play with the realities smoothly and suggest the layering comfortably. I have outlined the politics and the philosophies, the major players and the first stories. I am very near the end of my studies and will begin building this beast soon. Looking back at the past year I think I learnt more between last July and now (when I first believed I was getting close to ready to begin building) and now then I had leading up to then.
But that's actually not why I started this update... this update was supposed to be about semantics and got a little sidetracked. What I wanted to record was the two following questions:
1) Given that DSF@FEP suggests that a government needs to exist primarily for infrastructurial purposes and not to govern or lead, would it make more sense to use a term other than government for it?
2) Do morals exist? That is to say is it the moral rightness or wrongness of a thing that prompts action/inaction or is a myriad of intellectual and emotional factors that present us with a most logical response to a circumstance?
