Roaming in Rome

Came to Rome to admire the beauty and the history in the city.

The heat and the crowds turned me off. I looked everywhere and I was overwhelmed by all the beauty and the history around. I craved for the simple things in life.

After watching the first opera of my life, La Traviata (sheer brilliance!), I walked out to the Piazza dia Spagna (also known as Spanish Steps) and it sure looked like a huge party to me - people all over the stairs and some of them playing their guitars and singing and having a good time. I climbed to the top, got myself a Bacardi and walked back to where the biggest gang of singers was hanging around and plonked myself right in the middle. Mindblowing music, smoke for the day, a million different people, beer, lots of eye candy.

Random conversation with Serbians, Dutch, Canadians, Americans and God knows who else. Lingering on to talk to the Serbian students and Dutch businessmen. Music, travel, philosophy, politics, religion, family, marriage, love, life. Getting the soundest advice ever and some of the best insights about myself. Getting a fresh stalk of rose and a cab ride back home. I could have bloody cried.

Rome is freakin' beautiful, but I can't promise you the same beauty if you come to visit. This was personal (like most of my travel experiences :P). Thanks, Danil, Igor, Richard and Arnold.
