Thanks! I added you back! Basically, I had been told to set my BIOS settings to the default, which I did and ever since then, Windows won't load. I keep getting the same screen that asks if you want to start Windows normally or if you want to start it with the last known good configuration and none of those choices work. I also tried to reload windows and that didn't work either.

So you changed your BIOS settings to default and it doesnt load...

When you select Start Windows Normally...what happens? Does it give you a STOP Error? If it does, could you get the error code?

Also, I am assuming that Safe Mode does not work?

Do you have a windows disc? Or the Recovery Discs with the machine? (Assuming not here but you mentioned reloading windows)

Have you tried setting the BIOS settings back to where they were?

I never got recovery disks for my comp. I have spent 2 months trying to get them, only to finally find out that the company who owns my computer now, has gone bankrupt and as long as they are in litigation, all of the disks and computer parts are tied up in the court system.

I wanted to try and put the BIOS settings back but I don't know what they were and I'm afraid to change anything else in that system.

Safe Mode doesn't work either. I don't have a windows disk but my friend has one and I tried that, but it gave me an error after it went part way through the set up.

Some sort of blue screen pops up super fast - not long enough to even read what it is, but I did a screen shot of it once and saw that it was some error code, but I don't see how to even enter the code if I can't get into Windows. I'll do a screen shot again, write down what it says and give it to you tomorrow.

Okay...

Well, I did some hunting, and I can't find the recovery disks online anywhere. I did download one...but its for Windows XP Pro. The sticker on your PC...does it say Windows XP Professional Edition or Home Edition?

If you can get me what it says after the word STOP down on the bottom of that blue screen that would work. It'll look like 0x(and then numbers and letters after it).

I'll check what edition I have. I know it's a Media Center Edition so I am guessing that is a Home Edition. But it came from Gatewya's business line of computers so I'm not sure.

Thanks for checking! I'll get back to you tomorrow with the info!

Yup, it is a STOP error that pops up rather quickly on my computer. Here is what it says:

STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF79A1524.0xC0000034.0x00000000.0x00000000)

AHA! Okay, that's actually not too bad. Do you have your friend's Windows XP cd? If you can get that....I can gie you instructions of what 'should' correct the problem.

I can get the CD back from her. Go ahead and give me instructions. My sister is going to take my computer to her friend tomorrow who is another tech geek so I can give him whatever you tell me. Cause I'm afraid of doing anything myself, lol

Sorry about the delay...

Ok, so here is the deal...from what I have been able to find out so far...it looks like your master boot record is corrupt.

I know... a bunch of tech mumbo jumbo...

Here are the steps;

1. Put Windows CD in
2. Boot to the CD
3. When the setup comes up...you should have an option to repair windows (should be R) Select that
4. When the black screen comes up .... type FIXMBR and follow the instructions
5. Then type FIXBOOT and follow instructions.
6. Then reboot

If this doesn't work...have your friend look at the bios and the harddrive settings.
