Nomad by Fate

Jun 06, 2012 11:05

We come and go to let it bleed.
Burning midnight oil and candles at both ends to see.
All I've known is nothing's free and nothing's easy
when you're sowing busted hearts on sleeves.

Oh I gave my hands to take you home
but I had no home to give you.

I can't say where I'm from.
I've been moving since my mama gave me to a Texas sun.
Some may say I'm a nomad by fate,
tempered from the road right after being forged in flames.

Oh I gave my hand to take you home
but I had no home to give you.

Do I take more than I give?
It's all I've known but I don't want to roam
from you for long, before I find you gone.

Oh I have my hand to take you home
but I had no home to give you.
I'm coming home before you're gone.
I'm coming home before I'm lost.

- Chuck Ragan

when paul first introduced chuck ragan to me i wasnt impressed. the songs all melded together. i didn't get it. i didn't like it. his voice was too hard, too rough, too harsh. i wanted melody. i want soothing. i wanted romance. (i was newly obsessed with gaslight anthem so of course what i wanted was more of the same). when we went to the revival tour in april i was excited for dan andriano. (surprised by guest dave hause who i loved already) and completely blown away by chuck ragan. his energy, his charisma, his presence.

of course i went home and revisited his songs. nothing left to prove, and nomad by fate are currently my top favorites but since giving him another closer look i have yet to find a song i don't like.

the fiddle, the guitar, his voice.
