At the sound of Signy's voice and what she proceeded to say, he let out a heavy sigh. Ever since he had gotten caught up in this woman's 'plight', he had been humiliated and tormented by the ones she had sent him after. However, he had an ethical duty to comply with her request and to report to her with the current (lack of) progress he had made.

"Miss Sigrun." Ragnar spoke. "I assume you are well."

"That all depends, to tell you the truth." She remarked with a cynical tone. "So, what's the news? I was just thinking about you, you know."

He tugged at his shirt collar, feeling oddly nervous. "The reason I was unable to contact you sooner was because I was captured by Ran Billows and the other passengers of the Valkyrie Express. Fortunately, I have since escaped."

After hearing that, it seemed that she burst out laughing. "Gyee hee hee! Wow, I should've guessed that would happen, tough customers and all!"

However, this was followed by an abrupt and total silence. Though it could not be seen by the assassin, her facial expression changed very dramatically as well, and not in a pleasant way. "...You are screwing around with me, right?"

"No." Ragnar replied simply.

Signy dropped her face into the pillow, muffling a growl of frustration. She turned her head to the side in order to continue the conversation.

"Wrong answer." She spoke disdainfully, though she probably wouldn't have taken it well as a joke either. "You're really not on top of your game, huh? In more ways than one, too."

Taking offense to her comment, he sneered at the phone. "I was unprepared and underestimated them. However, I do have a plan now. I will get my revenge and I will complete the task you assigned to me."

"I somehow get the feeling that I've heard that one before." She was grinning mischievously, though a certain anger was burning inside of her and it could probably be detected in the sarcasm her words had. "Is this the plan that finally does something useful?"

"I am certain of it." Frowning, he looked down at the pay phone. "Measures are being taken to ensure success this time. I also wish to make amends with you by cutting the cost of my service in half."

"Oh, don't you even worry about that." She seemed calm about this matter. "If I held any of the cash back, I'd have to answer why. Just keep it all and your... misadventures on the kiddie train can stay our dirty little secret."

Signy continued with a slight sigh. "Of course, this last ditch effort of yours better work. Three strikes and you're out -- those are the rules."

"I had a feeling you would say something like that." He smirked a little. "I do not care for the train or its inhabitants." Although, his last statement was not exactly true. Tami Alqon sprung to his mind right away, the guilt he harbored rearing its head once again.

"After this, you will never have to worry about Ran Billows taking another breath again."

"You'd better not care. Give them one little inch and they'll take you over and rewire your mind...just like my poor, unfortunate Ran."

What may have sounded like sympathy quickly faded as she went on, though. "Knowing that she's been put out of her misery will take a huge weight off of my chest."

The catboy scoffed at the idea of being 'rewired'. "There is no way that will ever occur to me. In order to be reformed, you must be unsatisfied with your life. I am not."

Was he implying that Ran wasn't satisfied with her life? The thought of that seemed to stir up even more anger in Signy's voice. "You really shouldn't say things you might regret later, you know that? I don't think I'd be very proud of myself if I sucked at my job so badly."

Her words stung him a bit, but he remained composed. "I will call you again after I set my plan into motion. Until then, I hope you take care of yourself."

She let out an odd chuckle. "Alright, but I'm not the one picking fights with a whole rebel army and getting captured. I think I'll manage." After that, she went to hang up the phone.
