Summary: 'Miranda' obviously ended up being Ran and this causes her to be on the run...or is she?

Kanji had been searching relentlessly ever since he could. He checked the station, the mall, and anywhere else he could think of that might prove to be a good hiding place. He had found no sign of Ran, however.

There was only one more place, it seemed, but what were the odds of that? It couldn't be ignored, however, and he went to what seemed to be the most abandoned part of the entire area. There she was.

"Hey, Ran!" He called out to her while approaching in a hurry.

Of course. It had to be him, of all people. This time she was ready to start hurling those fire spells at him. However, her fingers stiffened and then began to tremble. Something tugged at her, whether it be guilt or anger, it told her not to attack just yet.

"Yeah. It's me." She retorted. "What do you want?" First sign of trouble and she would definitely retaliate.

"What's with you?" He shouted out as he got closer. "Back at that restaurant, you tried to knock me out! I just wanted to know if it was really you!" There was a frown on his face, a sign that he was serious about getting answers to his questions.

Looking to the side, she wondered what to do next. All this time, she figured he was out to fight her and enact some kind of revenge. But...maybe he just really wanted to see if she was okay. "...You're probably not very happy to see me, are you?" It was probably a good idea to test the waters.

"You kidding me?!" Kanji was very nearly angered by that question. He began to raise his voice, trying to get his point across by sheer volume, if nothing else. "Been worried sick about you ever since you disappeared! Everybody on the damn train's been telling me that you're dead!"

"That was kind of the idea..."

So she had planned for all of this? That was not going to help Kanji's temper. "What's that supposed to mean? You wanted me to think you were dead?!"

"I tried to hijack the train. The plan was to succeed, but I couldn't. So, I had to..." Exhaling, she closed her eyes and tried to figure out what to say next.

"The hell were you trying to do pulling a stunt like that, anyway?" He stepped up closer to her. "Seriously, let's get you back to the train and make things go back to normal."

Stepping to the side, she clenched her fists and glared at him. "Go back to the train? Are you kidding me?" Hissing, she furrowed her brow as she thought about the prospect. "Like they'd welcome me back with open arms."

He scowled, his patience for the situation growing thin. "Like I'd let you just run off and forget about everything!" Moving forward, towards her, he attempts to take hold of her hand. "Come on, we're goin' back."

Charging back, she tugged herself out of his reach. "No! Leave me alone!" This time, she decided to form twin flames in both of her hands, readying herself to attack him if he pursued this. "They won't accept me back! Hell, are you even sure you'd accept me?!"

Stepping back, he was wary of the flames. He didn't expect Ran to be so violent over this whole thing. "I came all the way out here looking for you! You think I would if I didn't care?"

Frowning, she let her guard down a little at his words. What did she have to feel so afraid for? "...Kanji..." Ran mumbled his name, trying not to look at him. "I'm...confused..."

"Well, quit being confused! It's starting to piss me off." He seemed to be calming down slightly. It wasn't like he wanted to fight her, after all.

Groaning, she felt a headache coming on. "Look, I don't think it's a good idea to go back! After everything I did, I really don't belong back there!" Ran flung her arm to the right as she spoke, extinguishing the flames in her palm. "I came here...to Lotus Blossom Central...to start a new life. It's ironic because it's the first place I arrived to when I was on the Valkyrie Express." Chuckling a bit at the irony, she choked a little soon after.
