How to convert video files into .gif file
Animationshop can open MPG/MPEG files but can't read AVI files.
Imageready can't open MPG/MPEG files but can read AVI files. You need to convert the files first with WMM.
ANIMATIONSHOP
1. Download a video. It has to be an MPG/MPEG file or something else animationshop can read (animationshop does not read avi files). I downloaded one from
Lost-Media.
2. Open the video in animationshop by going to 'file' -> 'open'.
3. This window will pop up:
There you can choose if you want to import the whole video or just a part (frame selection)
4. It will open like this:
5. Now you can start editing the video.
- ctrl + a to select all your frames
- 'animation' -> 'resize animation'
- add image transitions etc
6. Save you video as a .gif:
IMAGEREADY + WMM
1. Download a video first. It has to be an MPG/MPEG or WMV file. I downloaded one from
Lost-Media.
2. Open the video in Windows Movie Maker by going to 'file' -> 'import into collections'
3. If you have a long video file you might want to split it and only select a part of the video. I decided I only wanted the first 4-5 seconds. I stopped the video at this frame and then clicked the 'split' button
4. A new video will appear:
5. Drag the video you want to the storyboard.
6. Now go to 'File' -> 'Save movie file'.
- Save on 'my computer'. click next.
- Name your file and select a folder to save it in. Click next.
- Select the DV-AVI (PAL) setting. Click next and then finish.
7. Next, open up imageready. Open the avi-file you just saved with WMM by going to 'File' -> 'open'. Since I already splitted the video in WMM I'm going to open it from beginning to end.
8. Your video will open like this.
9. Now you can make all sorts of changes to it.
- I first went to 'image' -> 'image size' to resize the video
- Then 'image' -> 'canvas size' to make the canvas 100*100 px
- in the first frame you can add textures and stuff. The textures will appear in all the other frames too.
10. When you finished editing the video go to 'file' -> 'save optimized as'.
