pipes frozen
The pipes to the 3rd-floor apartment of my house froze up this morning, some time between 3am and 6am. I caught them in time so they didn't burst, putting a space heater on each of the 2 runs of pipes (1 each kitchen and bath). I also left the faucets open on 3rd, drained the pipes, and left the 3rd-floor water shut off at the basement.
The cause? A worker accidentally left one of the windows wide open on the 2nd floor. But it's much better now. Heck, the temperature (in Bedford) is all the way up to -4 degrees Fahrenheit!
My thanks to Toccata, for guiding me to this discovery. (He was begging me to turn on the sink faucet, so he could drink from it.) He deserves a cat treat for that.
