Perspective
Last night a woman gasped when she found out I was 33. She said, "You've had a lot of life experience in such a short time."
I immediately took this to refer to all the things I'd fucked up on, the life experience of being divorced, of so many turns and so much misdirection. How many things I'd not accomplished and instead spent time on other. I responded self-deprecatingly with, "I've lived as hard as I could, that's for certain."
And she just looked amazed, not catching my self-directed slap, saying, "You've done so much, so many things! Singing in a band! Recording music! Dancing - you've gone places and done things that so many people never do in their whole lives."

I guess it's a matter of perspective. I think she's right.
