alex and i went to eat at the al pacino cafe today. we ride by it a lot and decided to go eat there because alex said that he heard that it was inexpensive. also i was in the mood for some italian food and always wanted to stop by that place anyway. well we got inside and there's like waitresses and stuff which we didnt expect. either way we sit and look at the menu only to find that it is not inexpensive at all. a closer look at the menu and we find out that there isnt even any italian food on the menu. just a bunch of pita bread, gyros, and babaganush. an even closer look at the menu and we see that the front of the menu doesnt have "al pacino cafe" but rather "cafe isis" which fit in with the egyptian decor of the place. at this point we are just straight confused. so we ask the waitress where the hell we were at and she gave us this story of some dude from egypt who opened a resturant in baltimore. he named the place "al pacino cafe" simply because he liked the actor but didnt know the conotations that that name would hold (italian, mafia, etc). his cousin recently bought the place from him and knowing how dumb the name was for the type of food that they actually served so he changed the name to "cafe isis". apparently the full name of the place is "al pacino cafe isis". this was pretty hilarious. the food was bad, the waitress was cute though. however, i will probably never go back there ever again.
also we were approved for the house on st. paul, but probably wont get it b/c the people are moving out in late august and we want a place now. however, i found some nice places today in charles village and mt. vernon that alex is going to check out later on in the week. very exciting.
