There was a taping of a Yahoo!Music concert that my friend Cait (
mcbrennan) invited me to be her guest. The shoe on the other foot! It was very nice. We had my pal Jason from The Explorers Club with us, and I had gotten him into the gig through a friend of mine at Yahoo! and so he had VIP-ness and we didn't. BUT... when we got there, I sweet talked a fellow named Sebastian into letting all three of us in the VIP area, and we were in.
What was great, aside from the 8 or 9 song set that Brian and his 11 pc. band did, was that I got to reconnect with people from my PAST... Harvey Kubernik, Rodney Bingenheimer... two guys I knew from Bearsville (1972-75) and Sire (1977-79) days. Wild. And... BONUS... Harry Shearer! --- who I had the opportunity to chat at length with about The Credibility Gap's "A Great Gift Idea" album --- one of the few vinyl records I own, love and cherish that has never seen the light of day on CD.
Jason leaves tomorrow, but it looks as if he and Andy Paley have written a song or two that we'll try to demo up here at Capitol before his departure. We are going to the Dodger/Diamondback game tomorrow night, and then to LAX for his redeye back to South Carolina.
Good times. In the past 4 days I have reconnected with John Cowsill, Barry Goldberg, Harvey, Rodney... and I have a photo of myself with Joan Jett up on my facebook page that has raised some eyebrows :) LOL.
