[Normal: Kimblee is hanging out on the outskirts of town today, wandering around in the snow.
Also Normal: His current activity is centered around forced population control on groups of wild Pokémon in the area; most call it "training," the local Rattata call it "horrifying."
Still Normal, If A Bit Disconcerting: Said population control involves

That's been my thought from the start. Whomever brought us here is intentionally keeping us in the dark in several ways, and it's very clear that whatever their intentions are, allowing us to leave through our own will plays no part in them. Believe me, I know a prison when I see one - this particular cage just has some strangely-decorated bars.
There are frequent mentions on the network of those that have "disappeared" - they vanish entirely from the system, their Gears become inaccessible and their numbers no longer work; for all intents and purposes, contact has been completely cut off. Some that I know have vanished in a similar manner. Though I haven't seen any particular pattern to these disappearances, I also don't know how long most of these people were here before it happened; the theory you've proposed might explain some of it, at least.

I've been told that I've been here before, though I don't remember any of it. And I've heard of these sudden disappearances as well. It's almost too convenient, really. People disappearing and leaving no traces that they were ever here.

[It's not really a question; it's clear that they're both on the same wavelength with this.]
I suppose the next question would be the means by which this is done, then - obviously the devices are one thing, since technology can be tampered with; it's the disappearances themselves that are a bit harder to explain away. From the sound of it, in some cases it's a matter of them disappearing in the night - their traveling partners simply awaken to find them missing.
The logical conclusion is that it's done the same way we get here in the first place, but that also has the unfortunate effect of raising more questions than it answers.

[ That was also not really a question. Right now, they're both really just thinking out loud at each other. ]
Or perhaps those that disappear without reaching the challenge are simply people who've come across too much information. And whoever is behind all of this is just covering his tracks, keeping anyone else from finding out anything more.
[ ... That doesn't sound familiar at all. Totally not what happens in a certain someone's future... ]

Well, Kimblee's never really been one to spare feelings, so...]
I wouldn't be surprised at that, given what you've told me regarding apparently having been here before. History has an unfortunate way of repeating itself, it seems.

You mean, you don't think I completed the challenge when I was here the first time?
[ It's okay, he doesn't really believe he did, either. But he isn't at all connecting that with his real death, since nobody ever wanted to tell him how and why he died. He's just assuming that Kimblee is talking about how he's going to start figuring stuff out here again. ]

And then, just a stare. He's not sure what you're trying to get at, there... ]

Recovering!]
Surely you don't think what I told you regarding your fate in Amestris happened for no reason, Lt. Colonel.

Give him a moment to let that sink in. ... ]

... that makes sense. ]
If that's the case, it was probably a stupid idea to bring me back here again.
[ A dry laugh. Oh, the irony of it all... And the so many things he's not aware of that everyone else seems to know. ]

As was mentioned earlier, he won't spare your feelings - but he isn't above small displays of mercy, in his own way.]
Well, if this conversation is any indication - I'd say you may be right, actually.
[...that may have been a compliment. Accept it. You won't get many.]

We'll see, hmm? If I suddenly disappear, you'll know why, then.

I suppose that's one way of getting home, if you're too lazy to do the whole challenge... just do a lot of speculating.
[ It's fun for some people. It'd be like a game... ]

[His tone is flippant when he says it, almost dismissive; he supposes the topic really should bother him a bit more than it does, but the truth is that he really can't bring himself to care. Leaving this place isn't exactly high on Kimblee's list of priorities, after all.]
